COLUMBIA — The Douglass High School’s boys basketball team defeated Mexico Military Academy 79-61 at Smithton Middle School on Friday.
The Bulldogs seemed to have complete control of the game, leading at the half with a score of 46-22. However, the Mexico Military Colonels fought hard to come narrow the gap to eight points of the Bulldogs early in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs responded by increasing the pressure on the Colonels with a full-court press and extended their lead back to eighteen by the end of the game.
Meanwhile, Bulldog seniors Cameron Scott, Landon Boone, Charles Bowers, Joe Brown and Keondre Carthron were recognized at half-time along with their parents or other distinguished family members.
The Bulldogs had three players score in the double digits. Cameron Scott lead in scoring with 36 points and eight steals, Landon Boone scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds and Jordan Wisely scored 12 points.
