MU guard Tiller earns conference honors

COLUMBIA — Missouri guard J.T. Tiller was named co-Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Player of the Week along with Nebraska center Aleks Maric on Monday.

With point guards Stefhon Hannah and Jason Horton injured, suspended or both, Tiller scored 20 points in 35 minutes to lead a short-handed Missouri team to victory over No. 22 Kansas State on Saturday. On Wednesday, Tiller scored what was then a career-high 14 points in 35 minutes of play as a severely undermanned Missouri lost 66-62 to Nebraska. Five of Missouri’s players were suspended for that game.

Tiller is expected to be back in the starting lineup tonight as the Tigers (13-9, 3-4 Big 12) travel to Kansas (21-1, 6-1) for round two of the Border Showdown. It would be Tiller’s fourth career start.

Tiller is the first Missouri player to garner conference honors this season.
