COLUMBIA — MU Police on Monday released the names of three teenagers suspected of vandalizing 42 vehicles over the weekend at an MU parking garage.

Zachary Wayhart, Matthew Feldewerth and James Young, all 19, were given summons for minor in consumption after being arrested early Sunday in connection with the incident at the Virginia Avenue parking garage.

Both Wayhart and Feldewerth are MU students.

According to Christian Basi, associate director of the MU News Bureau, the students will be referred to the MU Office of Judicial Services for a discussion of disciplinary action. Possible punishments range from a verbal warning to expulsion.

Cars on the first and second floors of the garage and cars in the meter lot outside were vandalized. Damages included slashed tires, broken antennas, dents and paint scratches.

As of Monday evening, the MU Police Department did not have estimates of the total cost of the damage, according to Chief Jack Watring.

Initially, police only released the name of Tyler Eckert, 19, who was arrested on two felony charges of tampering in the first degree, two misdemeanor charges of tampering in the second degree and one minor in possession charge.

Police initially reported that 39 cars had been vandalized.

Anyone with questions or information can contact MU police at 882-7201.
