JEFFERSON CITY — A St. Joseph businesswoman has been picked to help manage the state's student loan authority.
Gov. Matt Blunt nominated Jennifer L. Kneib to serve on the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority's board. She is the branch manager for First Horizon Loan Corporation.
The 48-year-old Missouri Western State University graduate would replace John Greer, whose term expired.
MOHELA was created in 1981 to buy student loans from banks to make it easier for students to get credit. It is governed by seven board members.
Last year lawmakers approved Blunt's plan to sell some of the loan authority's assets to pay for construction on college campuses.
If approved by the Senate, Kneib would serve on the board until 2012.
