COLUMBIA — A 27-year-old Columbia man was arrested Friday on suspicion of possession of child pornography, according to a press release from the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force.

The task force, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and the Columbia Police Department served a search warrant at Luis Gerardo Peredia’s home on Jan. 10. A computer, along with several other items, were confiscated, according to the press release. Authorities discovered approximately 2,000 files with images and videos of the sexual molestation of children on the computer, the release said.

Detectives arrested Peredia at his residence on the 1500 block of Walnut Street. He posted a $4,500 bond and was released from the Boone County Jail, the release stated.
