COLUMBIA — A Columbia man was arrested Thursday afternoon on suspicion of possessing and promoting child pornography, according to a news release from the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force.

Darren Robert Johnson, 32, turned himself in to the Boone Couny Sheriff’s Department on Thursday after an arrest warrant was issued Wednesday, according to the release.

The task force began investigating Johnson in June after a business reported that child pornography was found on a computer Johnson gave it. A second computer with child pornography was seized at Johnson’s apartment in the 3800 block of Saddlebrook Place on Dec. 5, when a search warrant was served, according to the release.

Johnson was released after posting his $9,000 bond, according to the release. The bond was set with the conditions that Johnson cannot have access to the Internet or computers and cannot have contact with anyone younger than 18 years old, according to the case filing at the Boone County Courthouse.
