COLUMBIA — Columbia police are looking for a man who assaulted a bouncer at a downtown bar early Saturday.
According to a Columbia Police Department release, at about 12:41 a.m., an employee of the Field House Bar at 1107 E. Broadway alerted officers that a bouncer had been cut in the face with a knife by a man he'd confronted about a fight inside the men's restroom.
The bouncer’s wound required medical attention, but the injuries were non-life threatening, the release stated. The suspect left the scene after the assault.
Columbia Police Sgt. Lloyd Simon said officers just happened to be patrolling the area when the incident occurred.
“There are generally officers in the downtown area to deter any disturbance,” he said.
Police describe the suspect as a black man with a large build, between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a blue shirt at the time of the incident.
