MEXICO, Mo. — Two small children died in a house fire Monday morning in western Audrain County.

Little Dixie fire officials said four adults were taken from the home, and two of the adults suffered burns.

J.J. Horton, 3, and Levi Horton, 2, were killed in the fire, said Audrain County Coroner Pat Farnen.

No further names or details have been released.

Little Dixie fire personnel received a call about 9:10 a.m. Monday after a passerby saw flames coming from the home. Arriving crews found the home fully engulfed in flames and called in extra tanker trucks from the Boone County Fire Protection District.

Two investigators from the Missouri Fire Marshal’s office were on the scene Monday afternoon.
