COLUMBIA — A 54-year-old Columbia man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary, property damage, third-degree assault and possession of drug paraphernalia today, according to a Boone County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Police were sent to Green Hills Trailer Court, 7600 Highway VV, at about 1:30 a.m. after hearing that a man was yelling and beating on the sides of trailers, the release said. According to the release, police received another call a few minutes later that the man had forced himself into a 69-year-old woman’s trailer and that the woman had fled to a neighboring home.

When deputies arrived, they found Michael J. Monroe inside the woman’s trailer armed with a metal pipe. Monroe refused to comply with officer’s commands and was subsequently tasered and arrested, according to the news release. Monroe was being held at the Boone County Jail on Monday afternoon and bond had not been set.
