The Stephens basketball team lost 77-51 to Avila on Monday in Kansas City. Junior guard Kerri Shanks led Stephens (13-11) with 14 points, including a 4-of-9 performance from the 3-point line. Freshman forward Cara Leis added 13 points.
Junior center Ashley Townsend’s 20 points led Avila, which led 32-26 at halftime.
