Centennial edition: Art and Culture

Since 1908, the Columbia Missourian has been documenting life in Columbia.

As we approach our centennial celebration this fall, we are offering retrospectives on the people, businesses and organizations that have helped Columbia grow and prosper. First, we explore Arts and Culture.

More than 30,000 of you attended a community theater performance last year, and thousands more saw performances at MU and Stephens College.

More than 35,000 of you viewed art exhibits, most of which was created by area residents.

Hundreds of you participated in dance, and thousands of you listened to local singers and instrumentalists perform.

In the first of a series of retrospectives on life in Columbia for the past century, we examine how our neighbors entertain and enrich us through the arts.
