Columbia College women's basketball team wins on senior day

Following a hectic scene prior to the game, the Columbia College women’s basketball team had no trouble getting down to business.

The pre-game madness included a senior day ceremony, a brass band clad in black-and-neon green Hawaiian shirts, and the team worepink warm-up shirts to raise breast cancer awareness. The game itself was a start-to-finish blow-out, with Columbia College winning 96-70 against William Woods.

Senior Megan Archuleta had 19 points for the Cougars in the final regular season home game of her career.

“First and foremost Megan is a great shooter, and I thought today she did a nice job of that,” coach Mike Davis said. “That’s a great way to have your senior day with 19 points.”

The Cougars, however, did not get caught up in the emotion of the day.

“The senior days can go one of two ways. You are so worked up sometimes you don’t play well,” Davis said. “Really we did a pretty good job of staying within ourselves and really shared the basketball well today.”
