MU student assaulted on campus

COLUMBIA — MU police are looking for a man who assaulted a female MU student near the west side of Stafford Residence Hall on Saturday.

According to a release from the MU Police Department, the student told police that at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, a man shoved her into her parked car and assaulted her. The man then took her purse and ran toward the former Gardner-Hyde Residence Hall.

The woman reported the crime Tuesday but did not have any further description of her assailant, said MU Police Capt. Brian Weimer.

Gardner-Hyde was demolished a year ago. The area is fenced off, and construction is going on now.
