COLUMBIA — A school bus that had just dropped off students at Derby Ridge Elementary School was rear-ended Wednesday morning, but no one was injured, Columbia police Capt. Zim Schwartze said.
The bus was heading eastbound on Brown School Road toward U.S. 63 when it was rear-ended at 8:40 a.m., said Blake Tekotte, transportation director for Columbia Public Schools.
The bus was on its way back to the lot and was rear-ended when slowing down for the car in front of it, Tekotte said. There was no damage to the bus.
The driver of the Toyota RAV4 that hit the bus received a summons for following too closely, Schwartze said.
