PrintCOLUMBIA — Hopeful ticket buyers for the True/False Film Festival stood shoulder to shoulder in the Cherry Street Artisan as the live folk music entertained anxious ears. People struggled to stand patiently while others tried to weave in and out of the standstill line.
Although tickets officially went on sale at noon today, numbered “Q” cards were given out at 9:30 a.m. The crowd had made its way down the street while 300 people waited inside to get their turn to buy tickets.
“I am glad that I am not claustrophobic,” Carisa Shuster said as she glanced around the crowded room. After one hour of standing squeezed against a wall, Shuster and her co-worker were able to grab an empty table.
The wait to actually get hands on a ticket could not be estimated.
“I am watching this guy who is no. 20,” said Liz Roberts. “That is my guy, and he hasn’t moved yet.”
Although the wait was proving to be long, festival goers felt that it well worth the wait.
“This only happens only once a year,” said Alie McNeil. “There are so many things to see, and it’s a huge deal.”
