COLUMBIA — Former MU track star Christian Cantwell won his second IAFF World Indoor Championship in the shot put on Friday in Valencia, Spain. Cantwell won with a fifth-round throw of 71 feet, 5¼ inches.

Cantwell is currently a volunteer assistant coach for the MU track and field team. He won his first indoor world championship in 2004.

“It was a very good competition,” Cantwell said in a news release. “It is going to be a long year and the season has just started and will end in Beijing."
