MU softball extends win streak with win over Purdue

COLUMBIA — The MU Softball team topped Purdue, 9-4, at the University of South Florida Under Armour Invitational in St. Petersburg, Fla. to extend the team’s winning streak to 10.

Freshman leadoff batter Rhea Taylor led the Tigers with three hits including a triple. She also stole two bases and scored 3 runs.

Jen Bruck scored twice and had 3 RBI. Bruck also pitched the final three innings of the game, holding the Boilermakers scoreless and earning her first save of the season. Second baseman Andee Allen was 3-for-4 and had two RBI.

Stacy Delaney recorded the win on the mound for the Tigers, pushing her record on the season to 8-2. She has struck out 11 batters in 11 innings of work at the USF Under Armour Invitational, where she is 2-0.

The Tigers fell behind 3-2 after the first inning, but rallied with two runs each in the third and fourth innings to take a 6-3 lead.

MU has not lost since it fell 6-0 to Washington on Feb. 24.
