Jefferson City man pleads guilty to murdering relatives

A Jefferson City man pled guilty to the December 2006 murders of his cousin and her husband on Monday.

Brian J. Dorsey, 35, pled guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in front of Boone County Circuit Judge Gene Hamilton, according to Missouri Case.net.

Benjamin Bonnie, 28, and his wife, Sarah Bonnie, 25, were killed on Dec. 24, 2006, in their New Bloomfield home, according to Missourian archives. Sarah Bonnie was Dorsey’s cousin.

The couple’s 4-year-old daughter was found in the home unharmed.

According to Missouri state statutes, first-degree murder is a class A felony punishable by either death or life in prison, without the possibility of parole.

A criminal setting, where Hamilton will set Dorsey’s sentencing hearing, is scheduled for 5 p.m. April 7, according to Missouri Case.net.
