From Pat Kelley, Columbia

I first met John Clark 10 years ago when my neighbors and I re-founded the Ridgeway Neighborhood Association. None of us had very much experience and whenever we didn’t know about something, someone we asked would tell us to ask John Clark. At first, I thought John was a paid city employee whose job was to foster neighborhood associations. Later, I found out that he was just John Clark, someone who was more generous with his expertise and his time than any city staffer or elected official I ever met.

John was steadfast in his support of a fledgling First Ward neighborhood association, as well as many other First Ward community organizations, long before he ever thought of running for mayor or for City Council.

Now the First Ward City Council race has become a battleground for people from other wards to fight over growth versus smart-growth issues. But they’re not thinking about us and our potential. John is the only candidate who really has the vision, the knowledge, the dedication, the history and the capacity to lead a First Ward renaissance.
