COLUMBIA — A Columbia man was treated at the scene for minor injuries after his vehicle rolled over early Thursday morning at the intersection of Sexton Road and Madison Street, Columbia police said.

Around 2:30 a.m., Jerry Figures, 20, was driving west on Sexton at about 50 mph when he crossed into oncoming traffic and then struck the curb on the north side of the roadway near the Madison Street intersection, according to a police news release. After hitting the curb, his vehicle, a 1992 Geo Prism, began to roll over and appeared to have made at least one complete rotation before coming to rest on the west side of Madison Street, according to the release.

Figures was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident and was treated for an abrasion on his back and a small laceration on one arm, according to the release.

Figures was cited for careless and imprudent driving, the release said.
