PrintMissouri sophomore Nick Adcock tied an NCAA-meet record by clearing 6 feet, 9¾ inches in the high jump portion of the men’s heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
Adcock also finished third in the shot put event and is in third place overall with 3,195 points after day one. He is 70 points behind the leader. Saturday, the final three events of the heptathlon will take place: the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1000-meter run.
In the shot put, senior Nate Englin was told only three hours before the meet started that he would compete in place of a scratched athlete. He finished 12th with a put of 17.58 meters or 57 feet, 8¼ inches.
Missouri weight throwers Chris Rohr and Tyler Dailey will compete Saturday.
For the women, senior Trisa Nickoley qualified for the final of the women’s 800-meter with a time of 2:06.89, the sixth best qualifying time. Senior weight thrower Elisha Hunt finished 11th with a throw of 19.74 meters, or 64 feet, 9¼ inches.
Krishna Lee and Shernelle Nichols will compete for a championship Saturday in the women’s shot put.
