Jefferson wins Class 1 boys' basketball championship

COLUMBIA — The Glasgow Yellow Jackets (28-3) were looking for their fourth state title in school history on Friday, but the Jefferson Eagles (28-2) beat the Yellow Jackets 59-30.

This is the third Class 1 boy’s basketball state championship in a row for the Eagles and their fourth overall.

The Eagles were led by junior Craig Mattson, who had a game-high 20 points. Also scoring in double figures for the Eagles were junior Kyle Schieber and senior Kevin Moffat who had 14 and 12 points respectively.

Junior Jay Lee was the lone Yellow jacket to score in double figures. He had 14.

Glasgow is 41 miles northwest of Columbia.
