Spring break for kids

Need somewhere fun for the kids to go during spring break? Here’s a list of ideas:

Theater Reaching Young People and Schools (TRYPS)

TRYPS offers a weeklong theater camp for children from kindergarten to seventh grade, offering them a chance to star in performances based on Disney’s “Hannah Montana” and “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.” It runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 24-28.

Tuition is $150 if you enroll by March 17, $175 after March 17. Camp is held at Broadway Christian Church, 2601 W. Broadway.

Activity and Recreation Center

1701 W. Ash St.

Swimming in the indoor pool will make it feel like summer. During spring break, March 22 through March 30, recreational swim starts at noon daily. Call 874-7700.

Empire Roller Rink

1305 Business Loop 70 E.

Get your skates and hit the rink for hours of fun. There is no public skate on Monday and Tuesday, but here’s the schedule for the rest of the week:

Wednesday — Public skate from noon to 2 p.m.; admission is $4.50.

Thursday — Retro Night from 9 to 11 p.m.; admission is $4.50.

Friday — Public session from 7 to 10:30 p.m.; admission is $10.

Saturday — Public sessions from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; admission is $6.50.

Sunday — Public session from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.; admission is $6.50.

The Mud Room

At Club Mudville, children make their own ceramics. Sessions are 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays. Cost is $20 for two classes.

Children enrolled in Club Mudville receive a VIP pass valid for a half-price studio fee whenever school is out, including spring break.

Baseball games

Catch the MU team at 2 p.m. March 22 and 1 p.m. March 23 at Taylor Stadium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children.
