COLUMBIA – Deputies encountered a sword-wielding man Sunday night while responding to a 911 call, said Boone County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Krohn.
At about 5:30 p.m., the deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Sunnyridge Lane in response to a domestic disturbance. While speaking with a family member, the deputies noticed a man standing behind the door to the residence with a sword. He held the sword over his head preparing to attack the deputies, Krohn said.
The deputies Tasered the suspect and placed him under arrest.
No one was injured in the incident.
“He was not given the opportunity [to swing the sword],” Krohn said.
John D. Sanderson, 36, of Columbia was booked into the Boone County Jail on two counts of second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and two counts of armed criminal action. Bond was not set late Sunday.
