COLUMBIA — A 32-year-old man was injured Monday night when he walked into the path of an oncoming vehicle, Columbia police said.

Charlie Naylor of Columbia was walking at about 11:49 p.m. across Providence Road near Ash Street when he was struck by a 1999 Nissan Altima. Naylor was under the influence of alcohol, said Columbia police Sgt. Michael Maynard.

The vehicle’s driver, Matthew Johnston, 25, of Columbia, was traveling at about 30 miles per hour through a green light at the intersection before the crash.

Naylor suffered a broken arm and injuries to his leg. The driver and his passenger, Katie McMillen, 25, of Columbia, were not injured.

Police issued Naylor a summons for failing to yield to a motor vehicle.
