Columbia residents marked the five-year anniversary of the Iraq War during a peace vigil on Monday at the Boone County Courthouse. Maha Mahir, 6, holds the hand of her father, Zaid, while she and her sister, 4-year-old Ghada, listen to the list of Iraqis who have been killed since the war began in 2003. The Mahir family is originally from Iraq, with Zaid coming about a year ahead of his wife and two daughters, all of whom arrived in 2006. Four thousand American troops have also been killed in the war as of Monday.
