Letter: Sturtz has shown he has vision

Friday, April 4, 2008 | 11:25 a.m. CDT

I have been a resident of the First Ward since 1989. In my view, Paul Sturtz would be a great addition to the City Council. I’ve gotten to know Paul through having worked as a volunteer for the True/False Film Festival and from regular trips to Ragtag Cinema.

For his contributions to the advancement of the arts in Columbia alone (co-founding both Ragtag and True/False), I support his run for the First Ward seat on the City Council. Paul has proven to be a true innovator with a unique ability to motivate others to get behind his ideas. It’s quite obvious he has the vision and ambition to make not just the First Ward, but Columbia as a whole, the thriving community it deserves to be.

I have never placed a political sign in my yard or written a letter to a newspaper urging voters to support someone until Paul announced his candidacy for City Council. I strongly urge all residents of the First Ward to vote April 8 for Paul Sturtz.
