JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri Republican Party spokesman Paul Sloca has resigned.

Sloca says he decided to step down because he was ready for a change. He plans to pursue some professional consulting opportunities.

Executive Director Jared Craighead said Monday that the Republican Party has not yet hired a replacement.

Sloca joined the Republican Party in 2003. He left previously to work as a spokesman for Gov. Matt Blunt and the Department of Economic Development before returning to the party. He says his last day was March 22.

Before going to work for the GOP, Sloca was a Capitol reporter for The Associated Press.
