Man drives car through front of house

COLUMBIA — A Columbia man was arrested early Saturday morning after a truck crashed into the front of a home on Northampton Drive, Columbia police said.

Justin Purdy was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and related traffic offenses, according to a police news release.

The residents awoke around 2:50 a.m. to the sound of a 2001 Ford F-150 crashing into a car in their driveway and then through the front of the residence, according to the release.

The driver then backed the truck out and left the scene of the accident, according to the release. Officers located the truck shortly thereafter in the area of Carter Lane and Green Meadows Road, where the driver was also arrested.

No one was injured in the incident, but the residence sustained significant damage, according to the release.
