JEFFERSON CITY — The state Republican Party has hired Tina Hervey as its new spokeswoman.

She began working last week.

The 32-year-old from St. Louis has spent 10 years working in Washington, D.C., most recently as the deputy director of educational services for the U.S. Department of Education.

Hervey also has worked for the White House, Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback, and she worked with Gov. Matt Blunt’s re-election campaign.

Hervey replaced former spokesman Paul Sloca, who resigned last month to pursue professional consulting opportunities.

Hervey graduated from Albion College in Michigan and is working on a master’s degree at George Washington University.
