COLUMBIA — The 5.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the Midwest on Friday morning had several residents questioning what happened, but so far no reports of damages or injuries in mid-Missouri have been reported.
The Missourian has received a number of e-mails from readers across the nation this morning. Here is what readers are saying about it:
"I woke up last night and had no clue what was going on. My bed kept shaking back and forth and I couldn't figure out why. I thought maybe the neighbors were having a party or people were in the basement doing something weird (since my room is above the basement) but nothing was going on. I was so confused. When I woke up this morning I couldn't figure out if it was a dream or not. I've called people all morning trying to see if anyone else woke up and no one believes me. There really was an earthquake, right?"

"I live in Columbus, Ind., about 40 miles south of Indianapolis and it woke me up! At 5:39 a.m. (EDT) I felt my bed shaking and heard a howling sound, like a very strong wind or tornado. I actually felt my bed move for several seconds. And our closed doors rattled quite loudly. We definitely felt it!"

"I was awake before the quake and was reading in bed. At 4:38 a.m. my bed began to move around on the 'old' hardwood floors. The wood was snapping, not loudly, but enough that I knew it was a quake. I couldn't wait to get up and check the news to confirm what I felt."

Other readers who e-mailed the Missourian reported they felt the quake in Columbia and Glasgow. Rhonda Durrett, a reader from Madison, Ala., who said her daughter attends school at MU, said she felt the quake there. Madison, located in northern Alabama, is about 327 miles from the epicenter, according to Google Maps.
