Two people injured in car accident near Rock Bridge State Park

COLUMBIA — A car accident near Rock Bridge State Park early Thursday morning left two people injured, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

At 1:20 a.m. Thursday, a 1995 Chrysler traveling south on Route 163 near Rock Bridge State Park began to run off the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected and ran off the left side of the roadway, went down an embankment and overturned, according to the report.

The driver, 22-year-old Tiffani Sheffield, was taken to University Hospital with moderate injuries. The passenger, 22-year-old Nickolas Gilpin, suffered minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene. Both were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
