COLUMBIA — A Hallsville man was arrested on suspicion of possession of more than 170 grams of marijuana Thursday evening after the stash was uncovered in his vehicle, according to a Boone County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Justin C. Richards, 26, was arrested around 8:40 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, according to the release.

Sheriff’s deputies searched Richards’ vehicle after finding it and another vehicle in a commuter parking lot area at Interstate 70 and Route Z in Columbia.

“That is definitely an amount you would find on someone that sells marijuana, not just a user,” said Detective Clark Luntsford of the sheriff’s department. The amount of marijuana found in the car is equal to about two-fifths of a pound.

Richards was released from Boone County Jail at 1:34 a.m. Friday on a $10,000 bond.
