The Missouri softball team’s game against Baylor on Sunday at University Field was cancelled after one inning of play because of rain. The game will not be rescheduled.
Missouri center fielder Rhea Taylor is still one stolen base away from breaking the Big 12 Conference single-season record of 51 while first baseman Amanda Renth needs just one home run to set a new single-season school record at 18.
Renth and fellow senior Jen Bruck were honored before the game as two of the program’s most successful players. Coaches and underclassmen presented the seniors with flowers and framed jerseys.
“It’s not even our last game of the season, so I guess I’m not really that emotional about it,” said Renth, who predicted her home career might not be over yet. “We go to Nebraska next weekend, we have the Big 12 tournament coming up, and have the possibility of even hosting a (NCAA) regional much less going to regionals, so we got a lot of ball left, and that’s a good thing.”
The Tigers (43-13, 10-5 in the Big 12) will travel to Nebraska on Saturday to face the Cornhuskers in their final two conference games.
