Columbia man charged with forcible rape

COLUMBIA — Boone County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Tuesday in connection with the rape of an acquaintance’s daughter.

According to a Sheriff’s Department release, Nathan Shawn Howard, 25, of 4130 S. Lenoir, Lot 129, was arrested and charged with one count of forcible rape after a 13-year-old girl at a local hospital reported she had been sexually assaulted.

Maj. Tom Reddin said Howard stayed overnight at the victim’s family’s home on Friday. The victim reported the incident to her father Monday afternoon, saying that it took place Saturday morning. Her father took her to a local hospital. The victim was interviewed Tuesday morning at the Rainbow House.

Howard was interviewed and arrested on Tuesday.

Howard’s bond had not been set Wednesday morning.
