Commissions seek public input for high school site plan

Wednesday, April 30, 2008 | 6:08 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — City and county planners are asking for public input Thursday night on future development of the area surrounding the site of the new high school off St. Charles Road northeast of Columbia.

The public hearing, which will be hosted by the Columbia and Boone County planning and zoning commissions, will be at 7 p.m. in the county commission chambers at the Roger B. Wilson Boone County Government Center, 801 E. Walnut St.

Over the next six months, members of both commissions will work together to create a subarea plan for the land that will look at existing utilities and resources and set a direction for future use of the land. Because development in the area is expected to increase with construction of the high school, the city and county want a plan in place to guide that growth.
