PrintCOLUMBIA — Columbia police arrested a 21-year-old man on Thursday in connection with an armed robbery of a Fastlane Phillips 66 gas station. During a search of Jamie E. Angenendt’s residence, police also found a small marijuana growing operation, Columbia police Capt. Brad Nelson said.
On April 20, police responded about 11:12 p.m. to the gas station located at 2116 Paris Road. Two clerks, a 23-year-old man and 27-year-old man, reported that a masked man entered the building, showed a handgun and demanded money. The suspect then fled the scene with cash, the clerks told police.
Angenendt, of Columbia, emerged as a suspect, Nelson said in a news release.
At 10:35 a.m. Thursday, the police department’s SWAT team served a search warrant at Angenendt’s residence on Towne Drive. Investigators were looking for evidence used in the robbery.
Officers found several items related to the robbery and a marijuana growing operation, Nelson said.
Angenendt was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and manufacturing a controlled substance. He confessed to the robbery during an interview, Nelson said.
Angenendt remained at the Boone County Jail Thursday. Bond had not been set.
