COLUMBIA — A man called Joint Communications early Friday morning and threatened to shoot an employee at the Waffle House on Vandiver Drive, but police could not locate him.

The man called at about 4:45 a.m. and said he was at the restaurant. He said he was previously threatened by the employee and planned to shoot him in retaliation, according to a report from the Columbia Police Department.

When officers responded, he was not there. Officers checked the surrounding area but did not find the suspect.

Employees at the Waffle House said they did not know about the threats. None of the employees received any threats directly.

Officers were able to make telephone contact with the man but he was uncooperative.
