COLUMBIA — Three Columbia residents were treated for injuries Saturday after a car accident at the intersection of Scott Boulevard and Smith Drive.

The crash happened at about 11:30 a.m. and involved two teen drivers, including one who police did not identify.

A 16-year-old driver was traveling east on Smith Drive and stopped for a stop sign at Scott Boulevard, Columbia police Sgt. Roger Allen said in a news release.

A vehicle was traveling south on Scott Boulevard and attempted to turn onto Smith, obstructing the view of the juvenile driver from seeing another vehicle on Scott Boulevard. The juvenile then pulled out onto Scott Boulevard and collided with the vehicle driven by Ashley R. Akin, 18.

Both drivers and a juvenile passenger in Akin’s vehicle were treated for minor to moderate injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The Columbia Police Department was investigating the crash and no other information was available on Saturday.
