MU softball team loses

With the third seed in next weekend’s Big 12 Conference tournament already guaranteed, the Missouri softball team played like they had little to gain from beating Nebraska on the road Saturday. The Tigers lost to the last-place Cornhuskers 7-3.

Senior Amanda Renth, who is still one home run away from breaking Missouri’s single season record, had a two-RBI single in the second inning to give her team the lead 3-1, but the Tigers were outscored 6-0 the rest of the game.

Jen Bruck (16-8) was handed the loss after allowing six earned runs in six innings of work.

Missouri (43-14, 10-6 in the Big 12) will face Nebraska (22-26, 4-13) at noon today in its final Big 12 game of the season.
