COLUMBIA — A limited number of tickets are still available for the May 21 grand re-opening of the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts.

A black-tie gala, including a performance by signer Tony Bennett, will be held in celebration of the renovation.

Tickets went on sale April 21. More than 1,200 seats were available at $150, $200 and $250 per seat. About 600 seats are still available.

People are traveling from as far as Blue Jay, Calif., to see Bennett perform, Missouri Theatre spokeswoman Kanani May said. Tickets are being given as birthday and Mother’s Day presents and are also being purchased in large blocks for groups of 10 to 12.

With marketing for the concert picking up, sales are steadily increasing as the concert moves closer. “Do not wait until the last minute,” May said. “Everyone wants to get as close as they can to Mr. Bennett.”

To purchase tickets, go to motheatre.org, visit the temporary box office on 910 E. Broadway from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or call 875-0600.
