COLUMBIA — Boone County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Columbia man Friday on charges of burglarizing a woman’s home in west Columbia.

Investigators said William J. Brooks, 19, attempted to break into the woman’s home at the 1400 block of West Georgetown Loop. The woman attempted to lock the door, but the suspect damaged the door and forced it open, Cpl. James Perkins said in a news release. No one was injured in the incident. The incident caused the woman, who knew the suspect, to fear physical injury from him, Perkins said.

Brooks was arrested on charges of first-degree burglary, third-degree domestic assault and second-degree property damage. He was booked into the Boone County Jail on $32,000 bond.
