COLUMBIA — A Columbia motorcyclist was sent to the hospital for moderate injuries Tuesday afternoon after he collided with a vehicle on Business Loop 70 East.

According to a Columbia Police Department release, Timothy Kuster, 38, was driving his 2004 Suzuki motorcycle westbound about 4 p.m. when he collided with a 1997 Mercury LaSable driven by Angella Bell, 21, of Columbia. Bell was making a right turn out of the McDonald’s at the 200 block of Business Loop 70 East when Kuster hit the driver’s side of her car. Kuster was thrown from his motorcycle and landed in the eastbound lanes of Business Loop 70 East. He was taken to University Hospital to be treated for moderate injuries, the release said.

The Columbia Police Department attributes failure to yield by Bell and excessive speed by Kuster as probable circumstances leading to the collision.
