COLUMBIA — An e-mail sent to some MU Webmail accounts asking for account passwords is a phishing scam, according to MU’s information technology division.

The e-mail, sent Monday evening, asked for users’ PawPrint, password, and secret question and answer. The message, which claims to come from helpdesk@mizzou.edu, asks for the information for a “new Mizzou Webmail” application. The e-mail said that those users who did not send their account information would be deleted in seven days.

Terry Robb, a spokesperson with the division, advises those who sent their information should immediately change their password. Those who did not respond should immediately delete the e-mail, Robb said.
