Teen arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and drug distribution

COLUMBIA — A Columbia teen was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, and officers found evidence of drug distribution in his car during a search, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

At about 10:30 p.m., Zachary Doyel, 19, was pulled over for a traffic violation near the Lake of the Woods neighborhood. After searching his car, deputies found scales, plastic bags with marijuana residue and alcohol, according to Maj. Tom Reddin of the Sheriff’s Department.

Doyel was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance, driving while intoxicated, minor in possession of alcohol and driving while revoked. He was released from Boone County Jail at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning after posting bail.
