COLUMBIA — Columbia CrimeStoppers has announced a guaranteed $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of two suspects involved in an armed robbery that occurred early Wednesday morning at 3100 Brown Station Road.

Three men were preparing to deliver newspapers Wednesday at 2 a.m. when two armed men approached them and stole an undisclosed amount of money, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

During the robbery, one of the suspects assaulted Mike Cook, 43, by kicking him in the face. Cook was later taken by ambulance to a hospital to be treated for facial fractures.

Columbia Police Capt. Brad Nelson said CrimeStoppers is offering a higher reward than usual “because of the brutality” of the incident.

One of the suspects was described as 6 feet tall, 220 pounds and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a dark-colored bandanna across his face. The second suspect was described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, athletically built and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a pink bandanna across his face.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery should contact CrimeStoppers online at 875tips.com or by phone at 875-TIPS.

In addition, a trust fund has been set up in Cook’s name at Boone County National Bank to help pay for medical expenses. Contributions can be sent to the Mike Cook Medical Fund, Boone County National Bank, 720 E. Broadway, Columbia, MO 65201.
