Power outage affects homes in East Campus

COLUMBIA — A power outage hit the East Campus neighborhood Tuesday morning, causing 5,300 people to go without power for 10 minutes.

Connie Kacprowicz, public information specialist for Columbia Water and Light, said electric crews were doing routine maintenance and working on relays at its Grindstone sub station when power was lost at 11 a.m. The crews restored power by 11:10 a.m. The southeast area of Columbia was affected, from U.S. 63 to Providence Road and S. Broadway.
