COLUMBIA — The Salvation Army Thrift store on Parkade Road will wrap up its “bag sale” Saturday in an effort to clear out the store for renovations scheduled to begin Monday.
Store manager Christa Spivy said she knew the sale was going to be stressful, but the renovations were a must.
“It needs it really bad,” she said. “It’s been neglected.”
Dark gaps spot the floor around the building where tile once was, but a fresh coat of paint lines the walls. Blue, red and yellow polka dots with similarly colored shelves surround the children’s clothes area. The paint job was done recently by community service volunteers, Spivy said.
The renovation will cover new tile for the floor and the completion of the painting, Spivy said.
Spivy said she hopes the new look will bring more customers to the store, which is the smallest in Columbia. The renovations will last approximately two weeks, and the store will show off its new tile and paint on June 2.
The store is asking that donations be brought to the store at 23 E. Walnut St. during the renovations.
