COLUMBIA — The Callaway County Sheriff’s Department reported today that they identified the body of a woman discovered on April 20 as Melissa A. Corn, 35, formerly of Columbia and most recently of Auxvasse.
According to a news release, Corn’s husband, David L. Corn, 44, of Auxvasse, has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with Melissa’s death.
A Callaway County reserve deputy, who was hunting for mushrooms at the time, found Melissa Corn’s body near the Mokane River. She had been dead between three and 30 days before the body was found.
