COLUMBIA — Columbia firefighters responded to a report of a fire after lightning struck a house at 1609 Canton Drive around 12:24 p.m. Thursday.

Although no trace of a fire was found, firefighters discovered damage to the house’s roof, chimney and master bathroom, according to a news release from the Columbia Fire Department.

A gas leak was also discovered in the front yard, and AmerenUE crews were called to repair the line, according to the release.

No one was injured in the incident, and the house’s occupants will be able to return home once the gas line is repaired.
